Kent Notaries

A notary public is an officer of the law. They are qualified lawyers who are appointed by the Court of Faculties. Notaries must comply with stringent rules and renew their practicing certificates every year.

The main role of a notary is to authenticate and certify documents so that it is reliable to any organisation or government anywhere in the world.

A notary will take great care while verifying the information given by the client as they will be held accountable as a trusted legal officer by foreign governments, employers or institutions who rely on these documents.

Documents which are handled by a notary are referred to as “notarial acts”. Kent Notaries has completed over 2,300 notarial acts.

Notaries must verify for each client their identity, legal capacity and understanding of the document as well as their authority if signing on behalf of another party.

Every notary has an official and unique seal. A notary’s seal is universally recognised as a symbol that a document or deed has been scrutinised and is sufficiently authentic. Our seal is engraved with a Woodcock carrying its young. This is a symbolic representation of the perpetual nature of life and holds sentimental value.

Notaries are specifically authorised to carry out certain Reserved Activities under the Legal Services Act 2007 and can do any form of legal work except any contentious matter or taking cases to court.

Kent Notaries are mainly involved in preparing and authenticating powers of attorney for use overseas, dealing with purchase or sale of land and property abroad, authenticating foreign wills and personal documents and information for immigration or emigration purposes.

We also work with organisations that have business abroad to provide acceptable documentation quickly and at a reasonable cost.
